Wrist Guards for Inline & Roller Skating
Are Wrist Guards Necessary for Skating?
Wrist guards, or wrist protectors, are vital kit for all inline and roller skaters. These guards are crafted to protect your hands from injuries when you fall forward. This makes them a strong recommendation for both beginners and seasoned skaters.
What Size Wrist Guards Should I Choose?
Skating wrist guards should fit your hands and wrists snugly. If they're too loose, they might slip while skating; too tight, and they could restrict your blood flow. Prior to selecting a new pair of skating wrist guards, always refer to the product's sizing chart. Generally, you should measure the largest circumference of your hand around the knuckles, excluding the thumb, as well as your wrist circumference.
How to Wear Wrist Guards Properly
To properly fasten your skating wrist guards, first identify the rigid piece of plastic known as the splint. Open the wrist guard so the splint faces downward. Place your hand in, ensuring your thumb fits through the side opening. Once everything is positioned, secure the wrist guard using the Velcro straps. For an optimal fit, the splint should align with your arm.
As an alternative, consider race gloves, which are less bulky than wrist guards. These gloves provide better breathability and manoeuvrability, although they offer less protection than wrist guards for skating.
