Stunt Scooter Compression
Understanding Scooter Compression
For a stunt scooter, the compression system is the key connection where the bar, fork, and deck are joined. This system's role is to ensure the secure linking of the scooter fork and bar, guaranteeing that the bar is properly secured. This reduces slack, prevents unwanted movement, and enables smooth spinning of the bars.
A compression system is essential for every stunt scooter, and when selecting one, compatibility with your forks and bars should be prioritised. Your riding style and personal preference can also influence this choice.
Within this section, you'll discover stunt scooter compression kits, compression bolts, and compression conversion kits. For visual references and installation videos, please see our guide - Buying Scooter Compression.
Exploring the Different Stunt Scooter Compression Systems
HIC Scooter Compression
HIC - Hidden Integrated Compression is the original scooter compression, noted for its reliability, lightweight design, and easy maintenance. Installation requires either oversized bars (35 mm) or a scooter shim, which may be included in some HIC compression kits.
IHC Scooter Compression
IHC - Internal Hidden Compression is a slightly smaller and lighter variation of the HIC compression. IHC is unique as it is integrated into the fork itself, resulting in fewer parts for assembly. IHC systems can be paired with oversized clamp aluminium bars and standard steel bars (with an inner diameter of 28 mm) using both a shim and standard clamp.
SCS Scooter Compression
SCS - Standard Compression System is the most robust compression system currently available. Its strength comes from a four-bolt clamp and the absence of a need for a bar slit. A bar adapter can be utilised if your bar includes a slit. Though the larger clamp adds some weight, its stylish design makes it popular among many riders.
ICS Scooter Compression
ICS - Inverted Compression System earns its name from the bolt running vertically into the fork, tightening onto a star nut housed in the bar. It is compatible only with standard-sized bars with a slit cut. Lightweight, the ICS system can be utilised with both steel and aluminium bars.
It's imperative for the fork and bars to be compatible with the chosen compression system. If planning upgrades, consider browsing our Pro Scooter Forks & Pro Scooter Bars.
