Which Ski Boot Flex is Right for Me?
Boot flex indicates the resistance offered by alpine boots when the knees are slightly bent, and you lean or push forward.
This means flex represents the forward flexibility of the boot. Typically, the flex of alpine ski boots sold is: Men ranging from 80 to 130, and women from 65 to 110.
Bear in mind that this chart serves as a guideline. Some skiers might fall outside these suggestions due to unique preferences, capabilities, or weight. Flex values are suggested within a range of 10-25.
If your goal is to advance with your boots, opt for a flex at the higher end or even beyond the suggestions. Beginners should consider a lower number within the range, or even below what's recommended.
This chart doesn't account for the fact that flex is not standardised, so it may vary across brands. Additionally, temperature variations will alter the perceived flex of ski boots.
A table providing guidance for selecting the flex that suits you best is presented below.
