Purchasing Hockey Gloves
This guide aims to assist you in selecting the appropriate hockey gloves.
Designed to safeguard your hand and wrist, hockey gloves also provide mobility and comfort. They are made either from synthetic materials or leather (for the higher-priced options) and may be fortified with Kevlar or nylon on areas subject to wear.
Hockey Glove Sizing
Determine your glove size when you're equipped with elbow protection. Measure from the bottom edge of the elbow pad to the tip of your finger.
Sizes are specified in inches and can differ by brand. The sizes listed here are an approximation based on your measurements and height:
Model | Measurement | Height (approx.) | Size |
Child | 20 cm | 8" | |
Child | 23 cm | < 120 cm | 9" |
Child | 25 cm | 110 - 120 cm | 10" |
Junior | 28 cm | 120 - 130 cm | 11" |
Junior | 30 cm | 130 - 140 cm | 12" |
Junior | 33 cm | 140 - 160 cm | * 13" |
Senior | 36 cm | 160 - 180 cm | * 14" |
Senior | 38 cm | > 180 cm | * 15" |
* The finger length for sizes 13", 14", 15" remains consistent.
Please note: Gloves can be slightly oversized provided they deliver comprehensive protection for both hands and wrists.
Quality of Hockey Gloves
As a fundamental criterion, hockey gloves must feature several joints for every finger along with a sleeve to shield the wrist.
High-quality gloves are anatomically shaped from the start to match the hand's position during gameplay.
Reinforced gloves at wear-prone zones (such as the palm and thumb area) ensure longevity.
