Purchasing a Scooter Deck
The scooter deck is the surface you stand on while riding.
Replacing a scooter deck is akin to switching the frame on a bicycle; you must replace all the components and ensure compatibility with the new deck. Remember to check your fork, headset, peg, and wheel prior to upgrading.
Below is an illustration indicating various parts on a deck:
The majority of decks are constructed from aluminium. Brakes and axles are typically included unless stated otherwise.
Advice for Purchasing Decks:
- Lightweight decks are more suitable for performing tricks but do not have the durability of heavier decks.
- Heavier decks are more durable but have a slower rotation when performing tricks.
- Landing tricks evenly on the deck will extend its lifespan.
- Not all pegs are compatible with every deck design.
- Forks vary in length; too short a fork may not reach into an SCS, ICS, or HIC system.
- The angle of the headtube determines the extent to which the bar leans towards you.
- Griptape can be replaced frequently. Ensure the deck is clean before applying it.
- Integrated headtubes only accommodate integrated headsets.
