Guide to Attaching Snowboard Stomp Pads
Snowboard stomp pads enhance your control over the board when only one boot is secured, such as while getting on or off a ski lift. Before you begin, ensure you have rubbing alcohol and a hairdryer ready to use.
The snowboard's top is smooth, whereas a stomp pad features a textured surface designed to grip the bottom of your boot. It supports you when your back foot is not in its binding, making it simpler to manoeuvre the board. Typically made from rubber, foam, knobs, or a mix of these, a stomp pad is situated in front of the area for your back foot – between the bindings.
Steps for Fitting a Snowboard Stomp Pad
- Ensure both the board and pad are at room temperature (approximately 21 °C).
- Clean the area with alcohol. It must remain clean, smooth, and dry. Refrain from touching it afterward.
- Apply a hairdryer at the highest setting to warm the snowboard surface and the stomp pad's adhesive (keep the dryer moving to prevent causing damage).
- Immediately place and press down the stomp pad. Stand on it without turning – the more weight applied, the more effective.
- Leave the stomp pad to dry for 24 hours at room temperature.
