In this guide, we will show you the process to install a brake on a BMX bike. Follow each step in both the text and illustrations provided.
1. Begin by inserting the long cable into the brake lever.
2. Adjust the cable tightener until all three openings line up. Then, insert the cable into the cable tightener.
3. Close the cable tightener.
4. Position the end of the cable into the cable carriers beneath the frame, directing it towards the back of the bike.
5. This is how it should appear beneath the frame.
6. Proceed to install the short cable on top of the brake arm.
7. Route the cable around the seat post tube.
8. Following this, attach the end of the short cable to the lower brake arm. Ensure the cable passes through the small bolt hole, which is attached to the brake arm.
9. Using a 10mm spanner, tighten the bolt on the brake arm so it resembles the brake shown in the image below.
10. Then attach the cable connector to the end of the long cable.
11. Tighten the cable and secure the bolt on the cable connector using a 10mm spanner.
12. Make adjustments to the brake pads so they align correctly with the rim's edge.
13. If there is an excess amount of cable, trim the cable accordingly.
14. Finally, attach the cable ends to the cables and use a plier to close both cable ends.
