DIY: Bleach tie dye - craft your own acid wash shirt
We all recognise that the classics are unbeatable, so who can say no to the timeless appeal of acid wash t-shirts? The best part is, you can make one yourself using your favourite SkatePro t-shirt.
We transformed our SkatePro t-shirts to capture the festival vibe, with great success, leading us to produce a DIY video. Have a look and let your creativity flow! The outcome is utterly amazing, and you’ll undoubtedly become the centre of attention (or at least amongst your mates).
What you need includes bleach, rubber gloves, rubber bands, a bucket for rinsing afterward, and plastic bags to protect your 'workspace'.
The transformation unfolds in 5 simple steps:
1. Prepare - Utilize the plastic bags to safeguard the area where you’ll bleach, wear gloves to prevent acid burns on your skin, and you’re all set.
2. Twist the t-shirt into the pattern you fancy (our video provides ideas) and secure it with rubber bands.
3. Apply bleach on the sections where the t-shirt is twisted, using extra bleach for smaller areas.
4. Allow 60 minutes before rinsing thoroughly in a bucket of water until it runs clear.
5. Hang it out to dry! And there it is! Your acid-wash SkatePro t-shirt is primed to impress.
Note: During the initial wash, keep it separate to prevent unintentional bleaching of other clothes. Lastly, if you're keen to experiment, make sure to do it outdoors so the fumes can safely dissipate.
