Skate Wax & Grind Wax
The Purpose of Skate Wax
Skate wax, often referred to as kerb wax or grind wax, assists your skateboard in sliding and grinding with greater ease during tricks. Typically made from a paraffin base, the wax decreases friction and smoothes surfaces, facilitating manoeuvres such as 50/50s and boardslides.
Wax can significantly enhance your skating experience. A small amount of wax can make many rails, kerbs, and ledges "skateable," offering you the chance to skate on a wider variety of surfaces.
Applying Skate Wax
You can apply skateboard wax beneath your board and on the surfaces intended for grinding and sliding. Simply rub some on both the surface for tricks and the base of your board.
The more wax you use, the more slippery the surface (and your board) becomes. Hence, it’s advisable to begin with minimal amounts and test it. Increase the application if it doesn’t feel sufficiently smooth. In the absence of wax, another method to enhance your deck's smoothness is by installing Skateboard Deck Rails. These will help diminish friction and extend your deck's durability.
