Parts - Freeskates
Which Components Are Essential for My Freeskates?
Freeskates, alternatively known as urban skates or freestyle skates, provide an excellent way to navigate the city or simply have a good time at the skate park. Nonetheless, the more you skate, the more your components will degrade and require replacement. It is advisable to inspect your freeskates’ parts following each skating session.
Freeskate wheels and frames, alongside your bearings, buckles, and liners, may adversely impact your skating experience. Having new freestyle gear ready is a sensible precaution should your current parts exhibit signs of deterioration.
When Is the Right Time to Replace Freeskates Components?
As previously mentioned, the regularity with which you should renew your freeskate components depends on how frequently you engage in freeskating. Vigilance regarding all areas of your skates is important.
Wheels and Bearings
Freestyle skate wheels wear out based on their softness and your level of usage. Freeskate wheels should not wear excessively as this can compromise control and cause hazardous falls. Bearings are likely the most fragile element of your skates; however, with regular cleaning and protection from dirt, they can endure for many years. If you observe a lack of smoothness in gliding, it is a sign to replace your bearings.
Liners and Buckles
The liners in your freeskates may wear out more rapidly than the boot due to their softer composition. Applying antibacterial spray on them is also advisable to deter bacteria and mould. Buckles are vital for maintaining overall stability while skating. Although generally long-lasting, worn-out buckles could break during skating and jeopardise your safety.
Brakes
If your freeskates are equipped with brakes, be mindful that they wear down swiftly. Your skating surface, body weight, and the frequency of skating will dictate how often they need replacement. Regularly inspect your brake to gauge its wear rate effectively.
