Inflatable Paddle Board
Understanding Stand-Up Paddle Boarding
Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) is an enjoyable activity that combines leisure on the water with a comprehensive workout for the entire body. Standing upright on the board allows you to see beneath the water surface. The sport is straightforward to master and can even be used to navigate small waves.
Materials Used in Paddle Boards
There are two varieties of paddle boards - solid and inflatable. Solid boards, or SUPs, typically consist of a foam core encased in materials like fibreglass, carbon fibre, and plastic. On the other hand, inflatable stand-up paddle boards (iSUPs) achieve buoyancy and stability through air instead of a foam core. For those just starting out or with limited storage space, inflatable boards are an ideal choice.
Selecting the Suitable Inflatable Paddle Board
Your body weight and style of riding play a crucial role in determining the right inflatable SUP for you. Considering the board's dimensions, such as length and width, is vital. Boards under ten feet in length are easier to handle and are perfect for children. Boards ranging from ten to twelve feet cater well to beginners and those who paddle for leisure. Conversely, longer SUP boards are better suited for racing and long-distance touring.
The typical width of inflatable paddle boards spans from twenty-five to thirty-six inches. Boards with greater width are favoured by larger individuals and those wishing to transport goods. More slender SUP boards suit those seeking speed or people of a smaller build.
