Waveboarding
What Is Waveboarding?
Waveboarding is an exhilarating board sport that brings the thrill of surfing to urban environments. Utilising a waveboard, also known as a caster board or vigorboard, it serves as an excellent way to hone your surfing skills during the offseason.
Waveboarding is suitable for riders of any age and offers an enjoyable method to enhance your balance and achieve a beneficial cardio workout. The distinctive two-wheel design allows for a variety of activities on your caster board. They are versatile enough for cruising and carving, as well as executing tricks and stunts.
How Do You Practise Waveboarding?
Riding a waveboard involves a technique that differs from that of riding a skateboard or longboard, as your feet remain off the ground. Initially, you may need to adjust your stance and work on balancing, as there is only one wheel beneath each foot.
The board is propelled by your own motion. This requires either the back foot or both feet to make a rocking motion back and forth. This action generates forward momentum, and the more you wiggle, the faster you will go.
To steer, use your front foot, applying pressure to the forward section of the board in the direction you wish to turn. To stop, you can simply press down with your toes so the edge of the board contacts the ground once your speed decreases.
