Longboard Gloves and Slide Pucks
Do You Need Longboard Slide Gloves?
Longboarding enthusiasts benefit from using specialised gloves that improve their overall experience. These gloves, referred to as longboard slide gloves, assist in maintaining stability during "hands down" slides around curves. Their standout feature is the slide pucks—circular discs found on most longboard gloves—that support most of your weight during rides.
Crafted to be light, flexible, and ensure a snug fit, longboard gloves are often made from leather. This material is renowned for its durability and resistance to abrasion. Other gloves might be made using a blend of materials such as nylon, suede, and Kevlar fingertips.
Stay in Control with Longboard Slide Pucks
Slide pucks not only offer additional protection but also enhance control whilst riding, making them particularly advantageous for freeride and downhill longboarding. Typically, a palm puck is used, although you may opt for separate pucks for each finger. For optimal performance, palm pucks should be positioned closer to the heel of the hand.
Despite being primarily made from polyurethane, pucks undergo substantial wear and will need frequent replacement.
