BMX Tubes
Renewing Your BMX Tubes
BMX tubes reside within the tyres, serving as the component that retains air within the wheel. These tubes are crafted from various types of robust rubber and feature a tyre valve, either a Presta or Schrader type, for inflation purposes.
Given the demands of BMX activities, inner tubes will inevitably require replacement. Whether your passion lies in freestyle or racing, both activities subject tyres to significant impacts and continuous pressure, eventually resulting in punctures, either minor or major. Minor punctures may be remedied with a repair patch kit, but if your BMX inner tube frequently loses air pressure, it’s time to purchase a new tube. For advice on installing your inner tube accurately, view our brief video on How to Install BMX Tyres and Inner Tubes.
Which BMX Tube Size Do I Require?
To put it simply, the size of your BMX tube must correspond to your BMX tyre’s size, regarding both diameter and width. Most tyres have a diameter of 20 inches, thus a 20-inch BMX tube would be suitable. The inner tube width is indicated as a range, for instance, 1.70 - 2.5 inches. The tyre width should fall within this range, though slightly narrower or wider dimensions will still function appropriately.
When renewing your BMX tubes, it is advisable to inspect the condition of your tyre. Over time, tyres may lose traction or become prone to punctures. If you also consider acquiring new tyres, feel free to explore our selection - BMX Tyres.
